Mike came to TTCF in 2003 to open a donor-advised fund. He quickly became a dear friend to the foundation and served on the Board of Directors for ten years. Mike still stops by to make the staff laugh and ask how he can help in our community. Since 2003, his fund has granted over $750,000 locally to support the environment, mental health programs for youth, the local healthcare system, and scholarships. Whenever TTCF’s grant or scholarship committees need additional dollars, the Community Impact Officer knows she can call Mike and ask him to make the impossible…possible. Mike is a fundholder, a friend, and an advisor to the local nonprofit community.
Richard started a donor-advised fund at TTCF in 2005. He cares deeply about the environment, and wanted to support the health of our watershed systems. TTCF staff approached Richard with an opportunity to secure matching funds from the Nature Fund Grant Cycle. Richard shared that he had not yet made grants from his DAF that year because he was unsure of how to make the biggest impact. By aligning his DAF dollars with the Nature Fund, he doubled his fund’s impact with the match. Richard was confident in the TTCF grant committee’s vetting process and was delighted that he could help protect a priceless ecosystem in the place he loved.
A donor who came to TTCF in 2007 has formed a trusting relationship with the foundation’s team and given 149 grants to channel $1,624,204 into her community. Humble and eager to learn about how she can make the most impact possible, she relies on TTCF to educate her on philanthropic trends and local endeavors. TTCF meets with her regularly and she knows she can pick up the phone whenever she is ready to learn more about new opportunities to give back locally. Her knowledge of philanthropy has made her a great advocate for operational and unrestricted grants. She is first to the table for new major projects, and often helps push them across the finish line. She is grateful to have a thoughtful, committed partner in philanthropy – and TTCF feels the same way!
