Community Giving Stories: Shasta Region

Explore the local impact of donor-advisors at Shasta Regional Community Foundation

Rebuilding Together

Exodus Farms helps children with broken hearts, broken hope, and broken families to find healing with the help of a herd of once abused and unwanted horses.

When the Shasta area experienced a severe storm, the woods at Exodus Farms became a tangled mess of downed trees. The daunting cleanup task made news headlines and Exodus Farms reached out to SRCF for help.

The foundation made an emergency donation from its own Stewardship Endowment Fund, then shared the farm’s story with a donor advisor whose interests they understood deeply from working together for many years.

It was a perfect match – the donor-advised fund joined into support the cleanup Exodus Farms was able to use the space again in time for their busy summer programs.

Before
After

“These woods, which were a tangled mess before the snowstorm, now look like a beautiful park! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to the Stewardship Endowment Fund of Shasta Regional Community Foundation and the Patricia Kimball Endowment Fund for your generosity, and for the grants that made this colossal cleanup project possible, bringing life back to our woods, so the woods can bring hope, fun, and relaxation back to our program kids!”
